“Petty annoyances are designed to keep you in a perpetual ‘fight or flight,’ mode, which causes your body to wear out faster. Our natural impulse, when confronted with a problem, is to fix it. We focus time, attention and lots of energy on worrying about this problem, whatever it is. And it doesn’t matter if the problem is something we have to face right now, or something we flubbed twenty years ago. It will still come up, again and again. Too often, the only solution we come up with is to worry more….”
